2 drones intercepted in Islamabad: sources

ISLAMABAD: Two drones were intercepted in the federal capital on Friday, according to sources.

Sources stated that one of the drones fell near Faizabad and the other in Islamabad’s I-9 sector. They further stated that the drones were explosive-laden.

Sources stated that the drones had possibly been launched from neighbouring Afghanistan.

Earlier, the Pakistan Airports Body stated in a post on X — that has since been deleted — that flight operations at Islamabad Global Airport experienced a “short report operational adjustment”.

The comment had come after multiple press outlets documented that Islamabad Global Airport had been closed for flights.

In a later comment, the body stated that reports circulating about the closure of Islamabad’s airspace were “baseless”.
