Centre, provincial govt decide to deploy Federal Constabulary in Balochistan
The federal and provincial governments have made a senior officer ruling to maintain statute and command in Balochistan as they announced the phased deployment of the Federal Constabulary in the territory.
The ruling was taken in a statute and command session at the Provincial head's Secretariat in Quetta, jointly chaired by Interior Secretary Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Provincial head Mir Sarfraz Bugti. Senior representatives from both federal and provincial institutions attended, a CM's Secretariat press release stated.
It was decided to start phase-wise deployment of the Federal Constabulary in the territory. Initially, two wings will be stationed in the territory, with around 3,000 personnel eventually deployed in sensitive areas to reinforce protection.
Last year, the Federal Constabulary, formerly known as the Frontier Constabulary, underwent a structural transformation under the Frontier Constabulary (Re-organisation) Executive statute, 2025.
The force continues to operate under the central governing body while providing protection and administrative backing across Pakistan as needed. Provinces that utilise the force determine its operational powers, while overall command and supervision remain with the federal representatives.
