China urges Pakistan, Afghanistan to resolve tensions through dialogue, not force
Chinese External affairs chief Wang Yi informed his Afghan opposite official Amir Khan Muttaqi in a phone call that disputes between Afghanistan and Pakistan should be resolved through formal dialogue and consultation, not force, the external government department stated in a comment published on Friday.
Wang urged both sides to remain calm and exercise restraint, hold face-to-face dialogue as soon as possible, seek an immediate temporary calm and address differences through formal dialogue, according to the comment.
The further use of force would only complicate the condition and intensify tensions, Wang stated.
The government department's comment came after Pakistan, during the night of Public demonstration 12-13, bombed a energy depot near Afghanistan's Kandahar airport, stepping up the neighbours' worst dispute in years, despite China's efforts to mediate.
