IHC orders constitution of medical board to evaluate Imran Khan's wellbeing

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Regional judicial body (IHC) on Thursday directed the capital metro chief commissioner to constitute a medical board to assess the wellbeing condition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, while disposing of a legal challenge seeking his transfer to a private hospital.

The plea seeking transfer of ex-PM Khan to the Shifa Global Hospital for his eye care was heard by the regional judicial body's division judicial panel comprising Fairness Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Fairness Khadim Hussain Soomro.

In its three-page command, the judiciary ordered that the medical board determine whether the PTI founder needs to be moved from jail to a hospital for care.

The judicial panel also directed that doctors Arif and Nadeem Qureshi be included in the medical board.

According to the judiciary’s directives, the family of the PTI founder must be informed in line with jail rules, and Dr Nadeem Qureshi should remain in contact with the family regarding his medical condition.
