IHC orders formation of medical board on plea seeking Imran’s transfer to Shifa Global Hospital

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Regional judicial body (IHC) on Thursday directed the formation of a medical board in its ruling on a plea seeking the transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa Global Hospital for medical care.

A division judicial panel, comprising Fairness Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Fairness Khadim Hussain Soomro, presided over the assembly session.

IHC directed Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa to constitute a medical board and ordered that Dr Muhammad Arif and Dr Nadeem Qureshi be included.

Dr Qureshi, who is a retina specialist from Shifa Eye Hospital, is also part of the medical board constituted on the orders of the Top judicial body. Dr Arif is the head of the ophthalmology division at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad.

In its ruling, the judiciary also directed the representatives to ensure Imran’s meetings with his lawyers and family. Dr Qureshi was instructed to remain in contact with Imran’s family over his medical care.

Earlier, IHC reserved its ruling on a legal challenge.
