KARACHI/ BAJAUR: The Pakistan legal defence team carried out overnight strikes in Afghanistan’s Kandahar territory, targeting “assailant hideouts and legal defence team general facilities,” as the legal defence team continues its protection action against the Afghan Taliban, province-run Pakistan TV documented on Sunday, citing protection sources.
Protection action Ghazab lil-Haq was launched in late February following unprovoked firing by the Afghan Taliban from across the frontier.
According to Pakistan TV , the strikes “targeted facilities used by the Afghan Taliban and affiliated assailant groups to backing attacks against Pakistani civilians”.
“Pakistan armed forces have successfully targeted legal defence team installations, including assailant hideouts of Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij ,” Pakistan TV quoted the protection sources as saying.
Fitna al-Khawarij is a term the province uses to refer to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The outlet stated that the armed forces destroyed “technical backing general facilities and an equipment storage facility in Kandahar”, which, as per protection sources, was being used to “facilitate cross-frontier assailant activities”.
