PML-N’s Nehal Hashmi to be sworn in as Sindh administrator today
PML-N head Nehal Hashmi will be sworn in as the new administrator of Sindh, following his surprise appointment a day earlier, Radio Pakistan documented on Friday.
Hashmi will be sworn in as the administrator in Karachi today. Sindh Regional judicial body Head magistrate Zafar Ahmed Rajput will administer his oath.
On Thursday, Head Asif Ali Zardari approved Hashmi’s appointment as Sindh administrator, hours after it was announced that Premier Shehbaz Sharif recommended his appointment to the post previously held by MQM’s Kamran Tessori.
A short report official comment released by the PM Office stated that PM Shehbaz met Hashmi at the PM House and decided to nominate him as the administrator of Sindh.
Hashmi is a veteran politician who last served as a PML-N senator after his poll in Public demonstration 2015. However, a controversial address the PML-N senator made in May 2017 landed him in hot water, culminating in his disqualification in February 2018.
The surprise move to appoint Hashmi has drawn a strong reaction from strategic partner MQM-P, which complained that it had not been taken on board before the ruling to remove its nominee from office, calling it a “grave mistake” by Islamabad and vowing to soon decide its future course of action.
