Tehran thanks Islamabad for extending ‘strong solidarity’ with Iranian govt, individuals facing US-Israeli aggression

Iran’s External affairs chief Abbas Araghchi on Monday thanked the province and individuals of Pakistan for extending their “strong solidarity and backing” with Iran and its individuals who he stated were facing aggression from the United States and Israel.

In a post in Urdu on X, Araghchi stated: “On this blessed, divine, and spiritual day and hour, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the province and individuals of Pakistan for their strong expression of solidarity and backing with the individuals and province of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the face of the aggression by America and the Zionist regime.”

Araghchi further stated that Iran stood with “steadfastness and perseverance in legal defence team of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, with complete reliance on Allah Almighty”.

His post comes amid an ongoing Middle East dispute, which began with US-Isreali strikes on Iran on February 28. The strikes also resulted in the assassination of Iranian supreme head Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliatory strikes, Iran has targeted US assets and bases in Gulf countries.

The External Office (FO) has termed Pakistan’s role as a “ bridge builder ” during the ongoing dispute in the Middle East.

Most notably, as revealed by Deputy Premier Ishaq Dar, Islamabad invoked its “Strategic Mutual Legal defence team Accord” signed with Riyadh last year to help deter heavier Iranian strikes on Saudi Arabia.
