CM approves disease prevention programme

Punjab Provincial head Maryam Nawaz Sharif has granted endorsement in principle for launching a programme aimed at curbing the spread of senior officer diseases across the territory.

The Provincial head Punjab Disease Prevention Programme will focus on prevention of diabetes, tuberculosis (TB), AIDS and hepatitis, while a territory-wide awareness drive will also be launched about life-threatening illnesses.

The ruling was taken during a session chaired by the provincial head, where Secretary for Wellbeing and Inhabitants Nadia Saqib gave a detailed short report. It was decided that the awareness drive would be led by the provincial head regarding prevention and care of deadly diseases.

The provincial head directed representatives to take necessary measures to curb illnesses and ensure carrying out of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in province hospitals, particularly to prevent epidemic and rapidly spreading diseases.

She also instructed the healthcare board to observe carrying out of wellbeing SOPs in private hospitals and clinics, and ordered strict legal action against quacks across the territory.

The provincial head emphasised that creating awareness about prevention of fatal and infectious diseases is essential. She further stated that early detection of symptoms is crucial.
