DPM Dar warns prolonged Middle East dispute could threaten global command
Deputy Premier and External affairs chief Ishaq Dar on Tuesday cautioned that prolonged dispute in the Middle East could endanger the wider global command, stressing peaceful formal declaration of longstanding disputes.
Addressing the United Nations Global protection body's (UNSC) open debate on the maintenance of global calm and protection, DPM Dar stated that Pakistan had always supported formal dialogue and self-determination for dispute formal declaration.
"Diplomacy is not weakness," he stated, adding that dialogue were the first responsibility for calm.
DPM Dar stated that Pakistan, China, and other partners were working for calm in the Gulf and Middle East, warning that prolonged dispute could endanger area stability, global energy flows, and the wider global command.
He observed Islamabad's "sincere efforts" for calm in the zone and ensuring key waterways remained open for marine traffic.
