In session with China's Li, PM Shehbaz calls for 'joint efforts' for Mideast calm
Premier Shehbaz Sharif on Monday emphasized the need for joint Pakistan-China efforts to ensure calm and stability in the Middle East, thanking Chinese Head Xi Jinping and Beijing's leadership for supporting Islamabad's temporary calm initiatives.
Speaking during a session with his Chinese opposite official Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the Individuals, PM Shehbaz stated that Pakistan fully supported Head Xi's four-point agenda aimed at promoting regional calm and stability.
He further stated that Deputy Premier Ishaq Dar and the Chinese external affairs chief had also announced a five-point programme to help advance temporary calm efforts in the Middle East.
The premier stated that the ongoing crisis in the Middle East had impacted not only economies across the world but Pakistan as well.
Earlier, upon arriving at the Great Hall, PM Shehbaz was accorded a warm welcome by the Chinese premier before the two sides held official group-level dialogue on bilateral collaboration and regional developments.
