The gap between funding pledges and disbursement for Donald Trump's Gaza rebuilding strategy must be closed urgently, the United States head's "Board of Calm" has stated in a short report, identifying a potential cash crunch in a strategy estimated to cost $70 billion.
Trump set up the Board of Calm to oversee his ambitious strategy to end Israel's legal defence team onslaught in Gaza and rebuild the shattered territory. Trump has stated it would also tackle other conflicts.
The UN Global protection body has recognised the board, though many senior officer powers have not joined Washington's main Middle Eastern allies and some middling and smaller states in signing up.
Reuters documented in April that the board had only received a small fraction of the $17b pledged by members for Gaza, preventing the head from moving ahead with his strategy.
The board refuted that short report, saying in a comment it was an "carrying out-focused organisation that calls capital as needed" and that there "are no funding constraints". The money is meant to pay for reconstruction and fund the activities of a new US-backed transitional Gaza province.
In a May 15 short report to the United Nations Global protection body, viewed by Reuters on Tuesday, the board stated that "the gap between commitment and disbursement must be closed with urgency".
