AJK poll preparations intensify as nominee nominations hit record high

Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) preparations for the 2026 senior commander elections are in full swing, with poll representatives reporting a record number of nominee registration forms compared with the 2021 polls.
The increased submission of nominee registration forms reflects strong general and political participation in the electoral process, according to representatives of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Poll Board.
Chief Poll Commissioner Fairness (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal stated two polling booths would be established at polling stations with more than 500 registered electorate to facilitate the balloting process.
Poll Board Secretary Raja Shakeel Khan stated nominee registration forms continued to be received in all constituencies, including refugee seats and the Rawalakot division, until June 23.
