Calm pact ends 11-year Mianwali blood feud
An 11-year-long blood feud between five senior officer clans in Mianwali sector came to an end on Sunday after a restoration of relations ceremony brought together rival families, ending years of unrest that had asserted 11 lives and left nine others injured.
The settlement ended a longstanding dispute involving the Kundi, Kalo, Bikhan Khel, Hazara Khel, and Yaro Khel clans, whose rivalry had resulted in multiple incidents of murder and attempted murder since 2015.
According to details, the first senior officer clash occurred in 2015 within the jurisdiction of Wan Bhachran Police Station, where two brothers from the Yaro Khel clanAshraf Khan and Asghar Khanalong with their associates Muhammad Zaman Hazara Khel and Sher Abbas Bhatti, were killed. Muhammad Latif of the Kalo clan also lost his life in the unrest.
In 2018, another deadly assault took place in the Metro Police Station area of Mianwali when members of the Kalo and Kundi clans were ambushed while travelling to attend a judiciary assembly session. The assault asserted the lives of Abdul Waheed Kalo, Muhammad Mehran Kundi, Muhammad Nauman Kundi, and two passers-by.
The last senior officer event linked to the feud occurred in 2019 near Qaidabad, where Ashraf Khan Bikhan Khel was shot dead.
Efforts to end the decade-long aggression were led by local social figures and calm activists, including Mian Riaz Miana, Shaukat Khan, Sibtain Khan, and Inspector Irfan Gujar, who played a key role in facilitating formal dialogue and trust-enhancing steps between the rival families.
