Google limits Meta’s apply of its Gemini AI models, FT updates

Google has put limits on Meta’s apply of its Gemini AI models after the social media firm sought more computing boundary than the rival tech collective could share, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

Google, owned by Alphabet, told Meta around March it could not encounter the full Gemini boundary the firm had sought to purchase, the newspaper said, adding that the shortfall disrupted and delayed some of Meta’s internal AI projects .

Several other Google clients have plus been affected, though to a lesser extent, according to the summary. Meta has been particularly impacted due to its exceptionally high need for Google’s models, the  FT  said.

Reuters could not immediately confirm the summary, which cited individuals familiar with the subject. Google and Meta did not immediately answer to requests for remark outside enterprise hours.

Due to the restrictions, Meta has encouraged personnel to be more efficient with AI tokens, the units that evaluate AI usage, the  FT  summary said.

Even as companies persist to spend billion s on chips and metrics centres, they are still struggling to secure enough computing authority to endorse the growing need for AI services .
