PPP, JUI-F forge AJK poll alliance, announce joint candidates for two seats
The alliance was unveiled at a joint press short report in Islamabad by PPP AJK Head Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin and JUI-F AJK chief Maulana Saeed Yousaf. Senior Secretary Mian Abdul Waheed, Secretary Nabeela Ayub, Political Assistant Syed Azadar Hussain Kazmi and other faction leaders were also present.
Under the accord, JUI-F candidates will contest as joint nominees in LA-23 Sudhnoti/Pallandri and LA-14 Western Bagh/Dhirkot. In backing of the alliance, PPP candidates Nabeela Ayub and Zobia Khurshid will withdraw their nominee registration forms, while JUI-F will back PPP candidates in all remaining constituencies.
Speaking at the occasion, Yasin described the alliance as a significant progress in AJK politics and credited PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman for facilitating the arrangement.
He restated again the PPP's commitment to the Kashmir cause, saying the faction had consistently underscored the issue at national and global forums.
Maulana Yousaf termed the accord the first formal poll alliance between the two parties in AJK and directed JUI-F candidates who had filed nominee registration forms in other constituencies to withdraw in line with the faction's ruling.
