Pakistan Telecommunication Body (PTA) launched a general awareness drive regarding mobile SIMs registered on invalid, cancelled or expired identity cards and directed users to short report their documents in a timely manner.
According to PTA, mobile numbers that are linked to inactive, cancelled or expired computerised national identity cards of the National Database and Registration Body (NADRA) could be suspended or blocked under regulatory rules.
The body advised mobile users to renew their national identity cards before their expiry date so that there would be no disruption in mobile service.
