Premier Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Wednesday, directed federal and provincial representatives to intensify preparations for the upcoming monsoon season, ordering the establishment of a national urgent condition response mechanism and stressing that coordinated action is essential to mitigate the growing risks posed by climate change.
Chairing a senior session to evaluate monsoon preparedness and climate resilience, the premier stated Pakistan remained among the countries most vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change and emphasized that effective and comprehensive collaboration between the federation and the provinces was critical to address climate-related disasters.
The premier also approved the formation of an 'Urgent condition Response Panel' which would be headed by the secretary for Planning and Progress.
The panel, comprising the NDMA and representatives of relevant federal ministries, will work in close coordination with the provincial representatives and hold weekly meetings throughout the monsoon season to observe preparedness and response efforts, PM Office Press Wing stated in a press release.
The premier also asked the secretary for finance to complete advance arrangements for an urgent condition fund that could be mobilized in the event of severe monsoon-related disasters.
Premier Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, directed the relevant representatives to expedite completion of Danish Institutions across Pakistan and announced that a technology (Tech) campus of Danish University would be established in Muzaffarabad, describing the learning initiatives as a senior officer investment in the country's future.
