ISLAMABAD: The Centre and the provinces on Friday agreed to immediately roll out a mobile application-based commerce limit system for the provision of energy for two- and three-wheelers to ensure a targeted financial backing for the low-income strata and minimise the leakage of general money into untargeted avenues.
“The participants agreed to expedite efforts to finalise a targeted financial backing directive structure using technological solutions, while ensuring continued coordination between the federal and provincial governments”, the Government department of Finance stated after a consultative session on the subject with the provinces.
Finance Secretary Muhammad Aurangzeb, who presided over a high-level consultative session on the petroleum products condition, also underscored the need to “promote responsible consumption behaviour and ensure that directive responses remain fiscally prudent while maximising assistance support for the general”, the comment further stated. The session was also attended by representatives from the provincial governments.
The session commenced with a detailed presentation by the Petroleum Division on the current status of petroleum products’ availability in the country. It was observed with satisfaction that the energy provision condition remained stable and adequate across the country, it stated.
The Government department of Information Technology and Telecommunication also gave a comprehensive presentation on proposed technological solutions to facilitate a targeted financial backing mechanism for petroleum products, with a focus on transparency and efficient delivery, it further stated.
The provincial leadership shared their views on the prevailing condition and directive options. Sindh Provincial head Murad Ali Shah appreciated the central governing body’s efforts to maintain uninterrupted energy availability, while emphasising the importance of behavioural measures to promote energy conservation, the comment stated.
