IHC to hear Imran, Bushra’s pleas seeking suspension of sentences in £190m graft case on Public demonstration 31
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Regional judicial body (IHC) on Friday fixed the assembly session for PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi’s petitions against their conviction in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust improper behavior probe on Public demonstration 31.
According to the cause list issued by the IHC registrar’s office, a division judicial panel — comprising IHC Head magistrate Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Fairness Muhammad Asif — will hear the pleas seeking suspension of Imran and his spouse’s sentences on Public demonstration 31.
An accountability judiciary in Islamabad had sentenced Imran and Bushra to 14 and seven years in prison, respectively, on Jan 17, 2025, in the £190m graft case, also known as the Al-Qadir Trust case.
At the last assembly session of the case, held on Public demonstration 11, the IHC imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the National Anti-graft bureau (NAB) for employing “delaying tactics” in the case.
However, a later formal ruling did not include any direction regarding the imposition of a fine. The judiciary had directed the anti-graft body to come prepared on the next date of assembly session, with the legal defence team team pushing for a swift formal declaration.
The legal defence team team had urged the judiciary to dispose of the legal challenge early, requesting a ruling before the Eid vacations.
