Iran denies having direct dialogue with US, dismisses ‘unreasonable’ demands
Iran’s External Government department representative Esmaeil Baghaei stated on Monday that Tehran has “not had any direct dialogue with the US so far”.
“What has been discussed are messages we received through intermediaries stating that the US wants to negotiate,” Baghaei stated in comments according to the semiofficial Tasnim news bureau.
Regarding the meetings held in Pakistan : "The meetings that Pakistan holds with neighboring countries are within a directive structure they themselves have designed, and we have not participated in this directive structure. “I wonder how many individuals in America take the claims of American diplomacy seriously. Our task is clear, unlike the other side, which keeps changing its position," he stated.
“Iran has been clear about its position from the beginning, and we know very well what the directive structure is that we are considering. The material conveyed to us has been excessive and unreasonable requests," he further stated.
“The meetings that Pakistan has are a directive structure that they established themselves and we did not participate in. It is good for the countries of the zone to be concerned about ending the conflict, but they should be careful about which side started the conflict.”
