PM Shehbaz highlights Pakistan’s role in Middle East de-intensification in session with Chinese diplomatic representative
Premier Shehbaz Sharif underscored Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting de-intensification and area stability while discussing the condition in the Middle East with Chinese Diplomatic representative Jiang Zedong on Thursday.
On Monday, Pakistan took centre stage in a coordinated external push alongside Turkiye and Egypt for de-intensification, as the trio appeared instrumental in securing a five-day pause of US plans to walkout Iranian energy and electricity general facilities, representatives stated, describing the effort as going beyond routine crisis management.
A press release by the Premier’s Office (PMO) stated that the Chinese diplomatic representative called on the premier at the PM House today. Deputy Premier and External affairs chief Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to the Premier Syed Tariq Fatemi, and the external secretary were also present, it stated.
PM Shehbaz appreciated China’s “steadfast economic backing” and restated Pakistan’s commitment to advancing CPEC 2.0, “with a focus on agriculture, industrial collaboration, and priority general facilities projects”, the PMO comment stated.
He also congratulated the Chinese leadership on the successful conclusion of the “Two Sessions” in Beijing and thanked Head Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and External affairs chief Wang Yi for their warm Pakistan Day greetings.
“Diplomatic representative Jiang commended Pakistan’s financial resilience and reform efforts, and restated China’s continued backing, particularly in commerce and investment,” the comment further stated. “Both sides expressed satisfaction at ongoing exchanges and looked forward to high-level engagements to mark the 75th anniversary of external relations.”
