Punjab extends drone prohibition until April 25
The Punjab province has extended the prohibition on flying drones in open spaces across the territory for another 30 days under Section 144, citing protection concerns.
The formal notice, issued by the Home Division, stated that the limit on outdoor drone operations will remain in force until April 25. Representatives stated the ruling was taken in view of prevailing protection challenges and the need to ensure general safety and maintain statute and command.
A representative for the Home Division clarified that the prohibition applies strictly to outdoor drone usage across Punjab.
However, limited use of small drones will be permitted inside halls and marquees during events, subject to strict safety adherence.
The comment further stated that organisers of indoor events would be responsible for ensuring the safe and controlled use of drones within enclosed premises.
According to the formal notice, intel and protection application of statute bodies have been exempted from the prohibition, allowing them to use drones for official purposes. The province has directed sector administrations and police across Punjab to strictly enforce the orders.
