Punjab stays calm amid regional strain
Punjab has remained peaceful despite heightened regional tensions following the Iran-Israel dispute, with representatives crediting coordinated protection arrangements and the role of religious scholars in promoting sectarian harmony during recent religious events.
Representatives stated two consecutive Fridays as well as Ramazn 21 passed across the territory without any incidents of extremist unrest or sectarian unrest, describing the condition as a positive sign of stability at a time when tensions in the wider zone remain high.
The regional governing body, under the monitoring of Provincial Secretary and Chairman of the Executive Panel on Statute and Command Khawaja Salman Rafique, has been engaging religious scholars from different sects to promote unity and ensure peaceful observance of religious gatherings.
Representatives stated meetings with prominent Sunni and Shia scholars were held at the Punjab Home Division to strengthen collaboration and encourage messages of tolerance and harmony among communities.
Representatives observed that the participation of scholars in these efforts played a significant role in maintaining calm during sensitive occasions.
Speaking at one such gathering, Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that all segments of society were standing behind protection application of statute bodies to ensure calm and stability in the territory.
