Head Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday chaired a senior session that emphasized the importance of national consensus and institutional coordination in view of emerging regional challenges arising from the ongoing US-Israel conflict on Iran.
According to a handout by the Head’s Secretariat, the session was held at the Aiwan-i-Sadr in Islamabad. It was attended by Premier Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Legal defence team Forces and Chief of Forces Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.
According to the handout, the broader regional condition also came under discussion, including its implications for Pakistan’s protection, economic outlook and food protection. The session emphasised the need for a coordinated national response, noting that directive decisions must prioritise stability while safeguarding the interests of the general.
“The session underscored the importance of maintaining national consensus and strengthening institutional coordination in view of emerging regional challenges. It was agreed that economic management, energy planning, food protection and broader protection considerations must remain closely aligned to meet this challenging condition,” the handout stated.
It stated the session reviewed the evolving economic and energy condition in the backdrop of oil provision constraints and hike in petroleum prices, alongside regional protection developments.
The session also reviewed the “impact of fluctuations in global oil and gas supplies and prices on Pakistan’s market, with particular focus on managing inflationary pressures and ensuring energy protection”, the handout stated.
