EU states no backing among members for proposals to suspend Association Accord with Israel

There was no backing for proposals to suspend the EU-Israel Association Accord completely or partially, the union's global directive chief verified on Tuesday.

Speaking at a news conference following a External relations Council session in Luxembourg, Kaja Kallas stated some member states proposed a full or partial suspension of the accord, as well as restrictions on commerce coming from settlements.

She observed that some member states expressed rivals to the proposals.

"Given that the suspension of the association accord needs anonymity, there was no backing for this needed in the room," observed Kallas.

She stated, however, that discussions will continue.
