Fact check: Viral videos of Indian personnel resigning over govt apathy during Op Sindoor are doctored

Multiple individuals and accounts on X were sharing two videos since Wednesday, claiming that they show Indian personnel announcing their resignations in demonstration against the Modi province’s apathy during Protection action Sindoor. However, the clips are doctored through AI.

On May 7, 2025, the Indian armed forces launched Protection action Sindoor, saying they had hit several sites in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. According to New Delhi, the protection action was a response to the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam assault, when 26 civilians were killed in a assailant assault in Indian-administered Kashmir. India blames Pakistan for the assault, an allegation that Islamabad denies.

Per protection representatives, Indian missiles on May 7 deliberately targeted civilian areas, including mosques and residential neighbourhoods. Subsequently, Pakistan launched the retaliatory ‘Protection action Bunyanum Marsoos’, leading to heavy heavy weaponry and drone exchanges before a US-led push helped broker a temporary calm.

A day ago, a propaganda account on X, which has a history of sharing AI-generated content, shared a video of an Indian soldier announcing their resignation.

“JCO of Indian Forces Air Legal defence team, issues his resignation on the first year memory of Protection action Sindoor,” reads the caption of the post, which garnered 29,700 views.

In the video, the soldier can be heard saying, “When I woke up on May 10, I heard huge sounds. I asked my adjutant, he informed me, Sir, these are Pakistani missiles knocking our indian installations. He was in shock, but I asked him how is the josh ? He replied that it was high, but our heavy weaponry is no longer working. He stated the Chinese might have jammed it; therefore, we have sought the centre province’s permission to provide us with jammers to counter the Chinese jammers jamming our heavy weaponry guns. The centre province has given me a time of 50 years to meet the Chinese level of jamming, due to which I am tendering my resignation today. A country that can’t protect its personnel does not need to be defended.”
