FM Araghchi calls on Field Marshal Munir amid efforts to revive US-Iran dialogue
Iranian External affairs chief Abbas Araghchi held a session with Chief of Forces Staff (COAS) and Chief of Legal defence team Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir in Islamabad on Saturday amid expectations of renewed engagement between Iran and the United States to end the Middle East dispute.
External sources informed Geo News that Pakistan’s Top protection adviser Asim Malik and Interior Secretary Mohsin Naqvi also attended the session.
Iran’s Deputy External affairs chief Kazem Gharibabadi also participated in the session, along with Iran’s diplomatic representative to Pakistan Reza Amiri-Moghaddam. Iranian External Government department representative Esmaeil Baghaei was also present during the huddle.
FM Araghchi will also hold separate meetings with Premier Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Premier and External affairs chief Senator Ishaq Dar during the visit.
The Iranian official group touched down in Islamabad Friday night and was received by DPM Dar, Field Marshal Munir, along with other senior representatives upon arrival in Islamabad, the Government department of External relations stated in a comment.
