On Pahalgam assault anniversary, Pakistan slams India for ‘failing' to share proof

On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam assault, Islamabad on Wednesday criticised New Delhi for failing to provide "credible proof" for its allegations against Pakistan.

In a special televised comment, Federal Secretary for Information Attaullah Tarar stated India had also sidestepped calls for an independent probe into a "false flag protection action".

The longtime neighbouring adversaries went to conflict in May last year after India launched an unprovoked assault on Pakistan following the assault on tourists in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which asserted the lives of 26 individuals.

Without offering any proof, New Delhi had charged individual Islamabad of orchestrating the deadly assault in Pahalgam — a charge that Islamabad refuted and also asked it to hold neutral probe.

India followed the baseless accusations with unlawful missile strikes inside Pakistan, which resulted in the martyrdom of several civilians and protection personnel.
