PA approves delayed levy notifications
The Punjab House on Monday approved the presentation of delayed agricultural income levy enhancement notifications and unanimously condoned the procedural delay in laying them before the House, alongside passing multiple resolutions on general administration, progress projects, and administrative reforms.
At the outset of the assembly session, the House allowed the late submission of the notifications following a proposed action moved by Provincial Statute Secretary Rana Muhammad Iqbal. House chairperson Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan stated that the delay occurred due to procedural ambiguity linked to a Statutory Regulatory Command (SRO) issued during panel deliberations on amendments to agricultural income levy.
Subsequently, the House restored the validity of the notifications that had earlier been suspended for non-presentation within the required timeframe.
In a parallel progress, members also endorsed the House chairperson's earlier ruling against the imposition of agricultural levy through executive command, unanimously supporting the ruling through a vote at the beginning of the assembly session.
The House later passed a formal declaration lauding Provincial head Maryam Nawaz Sharif on completing two years in office, appreciating her province's performance and general welfare initiatives. The formal declaration underscored projects in housing, sanitation, environmental improvement, and healthcare, terming her leadership as instrumental in Punjab's progress.
Another formal declaration expressed confidence in the ongoing construction of the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Care and Research, praising the pace and quality of work.
