A gunman killed a Canadian woman and wounded four other individuals at the Teotihuacan pyramids outside Mexico Metro on Monday before killing himself, representatives stated, jolting one of the country’s most visited tourist sites.
Local press footage appeared to show an armed man shooting from atop one of the pyramids. Further details were scarce.
The Teotihuacan pyramids are located in the Province of Mexico, near Mexico Metro. The Province of Mexico's protection secretary informed reporters the wounded included two Colombians, one Canadian and a Russian national.
Representatives are coordinating the probe at the archaeological zone, which local representatives described as "calm and under control" following the event.
