Indian representatives have imposed fresh restrictions ahead of Eid ul Adha with a prohibition on the slaughter of cows, calves and camels, drawing attention to growing concerns over religious liberty and curbs on Muslim religious practices in different states.
As Muslims in India prepare to celebrate Eid ul Adha on Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Provincial head Yogi Adityanath directed representatives to strictly enforce measures related to the religious observances, including a prohibition on animal sacrifice at general places and a prohibition on road blockades for Eid prayer, Indian press documented.
Chairing a high-level statute and command session through video conference, Adityanath instructed sector administrations to approval sacrifices only at pre-designated sites and emphasized that no new traditions should be allowed during the festival.
He also ordered that Eid prayer be offered only at traditional locations and stated no permission should be granted for namaz on roads under any circumstances.
The Uttar Pradesh province further directed representatives to ensure strict monitoring of slaughter activities, maintain a prohibition on open meat sales and take action against illegal slaughterhouses. Representatives were also instructed to conduct flag marches and rise patrols around religious sites during the festival period.
