Iran, US agree strategy for 60-day temporary calm extension after latest attacks
The United States and Iran reached an accord on Thursday to extend their temporary calm pending the endorsement of Head Donald Trump, after Iran had targeted a US air base in Kuwait following US strikes on what Washington called an Iranian drone protection action.
According to four sources familiar with the matter, the two sides agreed on a memorandum of understanding to extend the temporary calm for 60 days, but the strategy still needed Trump's sign-off.
The accord will province how to address Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which will be among the first issues discussed during the 60-day window, according to an earlier short report by Axios , which broke the news.
Iran's Tasnim news bureau, citing a source close to the negotiating team, refuted the short report, saying the text of the potential MoU has not yet been finalised or verified.
It further stated that Western sources' claims that an MoU between Iran and the US had been finalised were untrue.
