PM, ISPR honour UN peacekeepers, reaffirm Pakistan’s role in global calm missions
Premier Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday stated Pakistan joined the global community in paying rich tribute to the brave men and women serving under the United Nations flag on the occasion of the Global Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.
In a message issued by the Premier’s Office, the day, observed annually across the world, recognises the invaluable services and sacrifices rendered by legal defence team, police and civilian peacekeepers deployed in dispute-affected regions in pursuit of global calm and protection.
This year’s observance is being commemorated under the theme “Invest in Calm”, underscoring the critical importance of sustained political commitment and financial backing for the promotion of durable calm and the protection of human lives worldwide, the comment further stated.
"The day also commemorates the establishment of the United Nations Temporary calm Monitoring Organization (UNTSO), the first-ever UN dispute stabilization mission, which commenced operations in Palestine in 1948," he stated.

PM Shehbaz stated, "Over the course of dispute stabilization history, more than two million men and women have served in over 70 UN calm missions around the world. Pakistan remains among the longest-serving and leading contributors to United Nations dispute stabilization operations".
