Reports of anti-CM PTI union in K-P rejected
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Secretary Shafi Jan on Tuesday dismissed reports of PTI MPAs forming a group against Provincial head Sohail Afridi, terming them "fabricated and baseless".
The comment came in response to press reports claiming that around 50 PTI MPAs had formed a union against the provincial head over dissatisfaction with his performance. Reports also suggested the rift could affect passage of the upcoming provincial finance, prompting Afridi to seek backing from JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
In a comment posted on X, Jan stated reports of house members forming a group against the provincial head were "false, fabricated and baseless", adding that "those dreaming of creating divisions among faction legislators have failed".
He stated all members of the K-P House remained united under CM Afridi's leadership and were committed to serving the general. Jan also asserted that "organised and baseless propaganda" had targeted the provincial head since he assumed office.
The secretary further stated that CM Afridi enjoyed the confidence of PTI founder Imran Khan, whose decisions within the faction remained "final".
Referring to Afridi's session with JUI-F chief Rehman, Jan stated the discussion centred on the death of cleric Maulana Muhammad Idrees and the overall statute and command condition.
