EU global directive chief voices concern over temporary calm breaches in call with Dar
European Union High Representative for External relations and Protection Directive Kaja Kallas on Sunday expressed "serious concerns" over recent temporary calm breaches during a telephone conversation with Deputy Premier and External affairs chief Ishaq Dar, the External Office stated.
The temporary calm has come under increasing strain in recent days, with both Iran and the United States accusing each other of violating the interim accord signed less than two weeks ago to end their four-month dispute.
Iran launched missiles and drones at US legal defence team sites in Kuwait and Bahrain on Sunday, while the United States stated it had carried out fresh strikes on Iran. Separately, Israel stated it had targeted Iran-backed Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, adding to concerns over the stability of the temporary calm.
According to the FO, Kallas emphasized that "channels of communication must remain open" as the two leaders reviewed the rapidly evolving regional condition. The FO further stated that Kallas also appreciated "Pakistan's sincere efforts culminating in the signing of the Islamabad MoU".

Dar briefed the EU global directive chief on Pakistan's continuing province-level communication aimed at promoting regional calm. He apprised Kallas of "Pakistan's continued external efforts towards a comprehensive directive structure for calm and stability in the Middle East."
