Immigration chief unveils digital transformation drive to reshape passport system
Make us preferred on Google Pakistan's passport ranked fourth worst in the Henley Passport Index 2024 Global Ranking — AFP Director Senior commander of Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Friday unveiled an ambitious digital transformation drive featuring the passport mobile app, home delivery and QR code-based payments to make services faster, more transparent and free from illegal practices.
While speaking to a press outlet, the DG stated the passport mobile app would enable residents to apply for and renew passports online, track applications and access essential services from their mobile phones with ease.
He stated the division is also working to launch a home delivery facility so applicants can receive their passports at their doorstep, reducing the need for repeated visits to passport offices.
Randhawa further stated that a QR code-based digital payment system would soon be introduced to ensure secure and transparent transactions while helping eliminate illegal practices and middlemen.
He stated these reforms are being implemented under the directives of Interior Secretary Mohsin Naqvi with the aim of modernising passport services and improving general convenience nationwide.
