Iran states ‘no planned dialogue’ with US in coming days as Washington states Doha session set for tomorrow

Iran stated on Monday that no dialogue” with the United States were scheduled at any level in the coming days, stressing that its priority remained the carrying out of their memorandum of understanding on ending the conflict.

Esmaeil Baqaei, Iran’s External Government department and negotiating team spokesman, informed reporters that Tehran was currently focused on ensuring the carrying out of the memorandum’s provisions and was “seriously pursuing” its demands in that regard, according to the province-run IRNA news bureau.

Baqaei stated the US had already issued the necessary licences under Article 10 of the memorandum related to oil sales and that Iran was following the carrying out process.

On Article 11 concerning the release of Iran’s frozen assets, he stated the carrying out process was also underway and that an Iranian expert official group would travel to Doha later this week to follow up on the matter.

He further stated that Iran had not yet entered the stage of dialogue for a final accord, saying Article 13 of the memorandum stipulates that dialogue on a comprehensive pact “can only begin” after the carrying out of Articles 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 and their continued application of statute.

Baqaei also refuted reports about a possible session with senior US representatives in Doha during the Iranian official group’s visit, saying any US trip to Qatar would have no connection to Iran’s technical mission there.
