MGK reveals he's touring 'for free' as he thanks supporters for 'showing up'
The lyricist-slash-rockstar has revealed that he hasn’t profited off the circuit, having spent “all the money” on making the circuit memorable for supporters. MGK made the revelation on platform at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Monday, June 29 — the third to last stop of his circuit, which kicked off last year.
He began by telling supporters what they mean to him. “There’s been a couple times in this circuit where I’ve completely wanted to come on platform and crash out because of things that I’m experiencing before I get on platform — all the personal life stuff.”
The dad of two continued, “But you can complain that the roses have thorns or you can rejoice that the thorns have roses, and you guys are my roses.”
MGK thanked supporters for “showing up” and admitted that sometimes, he “can’t believe all these people came.”
He then revealed, “We’re doing this circuit for free because we spent all the money on the Statue of Liberty that took six semi trucks and 100 extra employees so that I could come out of the mouth and stand on a 50-foot hand. I don’t give a shit because the memories that I’m making on this are completely priceless and making you guys happy is truly the best payment I could ever ask for.”
