Experts have called for strong regulatory mechanisms to operationalise the One Wellbeing approach in Pakistan.
The Wellbeing Services Academy (HSA), in collaboration with the Pakistan One Wellbeing Alliance (POHA), on Monday inaugurated a two-day consultative workshop titled "One Wellbeing Joint Action Planning and Supervision mechanism for ICT – Islamabad as a Model Sector" at the COMSTECH Secretariat, Islamabad.
The workshop brought together policymakers, general wellbeing experts, progress partners, and representatives from key province institutions to develop an integrated directive structure for addressing emerging wellbeing threats through the One Wellbeing approach.
The inaugural assembly session was chaired by Prof Dr Ramesh Kumar, Dean of General Wellbeing at the Wellbeing Services Academy. Addressing participants, he stated the One Wellbeing approach is no longer a choice but a necessity for safeguarding human, animal, and environmental wellbeing.
He emphasized the importance of establishing a sustainable coordination mechanism among all relevant sectors and expressed confidence that the workshop would produce a practical directive structure for multisectoral collaboration in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
The workshop was attended by senior representatives and experts, including the Director Senior commander (Wellbeing) AJK, the Dean of General Wellbeing at Ayub Medical College, and representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), National Institute of Wellbeing (NIH), Sector Wellbeing Office (DHO-ICT), Capital Progress Body (CDA), Environmental Protection Bureau (EPA), Wildlife Division, and relevant federal ministries. Experts from academia, general wellbeing, livestock, environmental, and progress sectors also participated in the consultation.
